African Characins
Boulengerella Maculatta
Fish Links
|
The Boulengerella and Ctenolucius species are both from the Ctenoluciidae family
they are commonly known as the pike characins and as the name suggests they are ambush
predators that resemble pikes. They are all large fish and are very reluctant to accept
any foods other than live foods. These are surface fish and some cover should be given
using surface plants and other shelters. They are very prone to damage to the snout, which
is very delicate and slow to heal, specimens with such traumas usually refuse to eat and
should not be purchased.
